2024-2025 Impact

Once again funded all field trip experiences for the 2024-2025 school year
Provided funding again for School of the Wild – the week-long opportunity at Hartman for all Cedar Falls 6th Graders
Funded the third research intern; found Blue Spotted Salamander larvae for the first time in 2 years
Sponsored the Maple Syrup Fest, Under the Harvest Moon, and Woodland Wonderland events at Hartman
The Friends provide and serve the cookies and hot chocolate to those attending the Woodland Wonderland in December
Provide funding for senior programming and Memory Café
Funded a wish list for programming – bat skeleton, bows, targets, bow bags, 10 Ipads/cases, owl pellets, darts, Field guides to Iowa Birds and Trees, Prairie in your Pocket field guides, and an orienteering set

2023-2024 Impact

Continued our funding of all field trip experiences for the 2023-2024 school year
Provided funding the week-long School of the Wild opportunity for all Cedar Falls 6th graders at Hartman Reserve
Once again funded a research intern to focus on the Blue Spotted Salamander project with the Omaha Zoo
Sponsored the Maple Syrup Fest, Under the Harvest Moon, and Woodland Wonderland events at Hartman
The Friends provide and serve the cookies and hot chocolate to those attending the Woodland Wonderland in December
Provide funding for senior programming and Memory Cafe
The Friends hosted Seedball Sunday where families and individuals came to make seedballs that are used during field trips
Unveiled the John C. Hartman painting which was cleaned and restored by UNI Art students

2022-2023 Impact

Paid for all field trip experiences for 2022-23 school year
Installed new human and pet friendly water fountain
Funded our first research intern to focus on the Blue Spotted Salamander project with the Omaha Zoo
Purchased binoculars and spotting scope for field trips
Sponsored the Maple Syrup Fest, Under the Harvest Moon, and Woodland Wonderland events at Hartman
The Friends provide and serve the cookies and hot chocolate to those attending the Woodland Wonderland in December
Provide funding for senior programming and Memory Cafe
Honored Woodruff Construction for their design and construction of the Nest structure at Hartman

2021-2022 Impact

Funded all school field trip experiences for the 2021-2022 school year
Funded the purchase and installation of a power assist door for the accessible bathroom (outdoor access)
Funded the purchase and installation of an accessible outdoor water fountain
 Funded 20 sets of new snowshoes, three archery targets, storage totes, and shelving units
Sponsored the 2021 Under the Harvest Moon, 2021 Winter Woodland, 2022 Maple
Syrup Fest, 2022 Dining on the Deck, and 2021-2021 Memory Café
Renewed our Inclusive Connection partnership
Funded a summer camp interpreter
Funded summer camp staff interpretation training
Funded board member participation in Iowa Inclusive Trails webinar
Fulfilled a yearly financial commitment to the Black Hawk County Conservation Board for the purpose to funding additional projects at Hartman Reserve

2020-2021 Impact

 The Friends of Hartman Reserve website was created by Miranda Rokes. 
Our electronic newsletters were published in February, May, and August.
The Friends of Hartman Reserve Facebook group was started as a way to promote the Friends activities at Hartman Reserve.
The Friends “virtual store” allows people to purchase some merchandise with our Friends’ logo. 
Window clings with the Friends of Hartman Reserve logo were created; they will be sent out in thank-you letters.

Wine Pull at UTHM raises $680 for Hartman Friends
$1,000 sponsorship for Maple Syrup Festival
Friends $900 sponsorship for “Inclusion Connection Partnership” program
 $900 Silos and Smokestacks internship match
